EUREGA - Harmonsation of the primary standard for natural gas

CESAME-EXADEBIT is one the principal players in the process of Harmonisation of the European cubic metre of natural gas carried out by four independent metrology laboratories: PTB-Pigsar in Germany, VSL in the Netherlands, Force Technology in Denmark and CESAME-EXADEBIT in France (as part of the LNE - the French National Test Laboratory).

CESAME-EXADEBIT (under the aegis of the LNE) is a member of the Eurega consortium (EUropean REference for GAs Measurements), whose activities aim to reduce uncertainties in the measurement of gas volume and in harmonising reference values at a European level.

Each national metrological institute verifies the results of a flowmeter's measurement by comparing that value with a directly traceable reference value obtained from a primary standard of the institute.

The process of harmonisation consists of combining the measurements obtained by each institute by a primary method for the same flowmeter and in this way obtaining a reference value which is statistically closer to the real value: the harmonised reference value.
